Jim Franklin
Jim Franklin is a consulting geologist with over 30 years of experience in the study mineral deposits and regional metallogeny. He is a graduate of Carleton University (B.Sc. (64); M.Sc. (67)) and the University of Western Ontario (Ph.D., 1970). He taught at Lakehead University from 1969 until 1975. From 1975 until 1993, Franklin was a research scientist with the Geological Survey of Canada, where he developed a regional metallogenic framework for Southern, Churchill and Superior provinces of the Canadian Shield. He directed major research programs on gold deposits in southern Churchill and Superior Provinces of central Canada, and volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits throughout Canada. From 1983 until 1993, Franklin was director of the GSC's Seafloor Minerals Program, culminated in two legs of Ocean Drilling Program drilling. As Chief Geoscientist of Geological Survey of Canada from 1993 until 1997, he was responsible for coordinating GSC's entire scientific program, including activities within multilateral national and international scientific programs and setting priorities for geoscience programs within the Government of Canada. Since his "retirement" in early 1998 he has been president of Franklin Geosciences Ltd., a consulting firm with world-wide clients in the minerals exploration industry.
Jim is a Fellow or the Royal Society of Canada, and represents Canada's geoscientists on the Partnership Group for Science and Engineering. He is an Adjunct Professor at Queen's and Laurentian Universities. He was Associate Editor of Economic Geology for seven years, and current co-editor of Exploration and Mining Geology for the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. He is a Past President of the Geological Association of Canada and the Society of Economic Geologists. In addition to his Fellowship in the Royal Society of Canada, Jim was awarded the A.O. Dufresne Award by CIM in 1995, the Duncan R. Derry award by GAC in 1992, the Thayer Lindsley Award by SEG in 1990 and the SEG's Distinguished Lecturer Award in 1988. He has published over 110 papers and book chapters, and about 120 abstracts.
Leslie Wittlin
Les is a seasoned commercial lawyer and senior partner at the Lang Michener LLP law firm in its Toronto office. He has extensive contacts in the Peoples Republic of China and the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau. He has experience in international commercial transactions of various kinds including supply contracts and debt and equity financing.
Sam Pillersdorf
Consultant
Sam is a Rheumatologist. He works in a private office and has an arthritis clinic at the Mcmaster University Medical Centre. He is Vice President of Sep Holdings, LaPrima Investments, and Maccabean Properties (all primarily commercial real estate companies). Sam has been investing in junior mining companies for approximately ten years and joined the board of directors in 2001.
